Black Currant is the avant pop project of composer and artist Kelly Martin. The project is previewing new material in anticipation of the release of their first full length album in Spring of 2025. This project builds alien worlds with an array of eclectic sounds, layered textures, pulsing disorienting rhythms. There are haunting vocals, mantra-like choruses, cut with a healthy dose of controlled noise. Tension is created through a careful balance of the familiar and strange. These new songs draw from the subconscious, from dreams, spirit walks, channeling, altered states.
